I felt the need for some hills today...

OK, so I spent about 13 hours training in the saddle this week, not bad given previous two weeks had been fairly well scuppered by our friends from the ministry... But the crucial question, the buring issue, is am I doing enough to achieve a gold time in the Dragon Ride on 10th June this year...?!

Off my bike...

Well that'll teach me. One mention of OfSted (in fact two) in I am really excited about Code Club and round they came, and stayed for two days. I didn't do a lot of riding during the week. That'll teach me. But I made up for it today.

I am really excited by Code Club

You may or may not know I teach ICT and the government, OfSted et al. have fallen out of love with ICT almost quicker than the ever fell in love with it. That could all be a bit of a pickle as they have a tendency to 'decide' what we are allowed to teach. The government, OfSted et al absolutely love Computer Science and that is my thing. You see I was one of the one's who took one look at the ICT national curriculum just after it came out and said, "oh yuk what is that". I sooo love looking forward.

I love excellence

Somehow when politicians exhort us to work harder for longer with less pension to show at the end of it all, that just doesn't excite me at all.

But when I see someone doing something really hard and really well and yet making it all look so easy. I love that. I love excellence.

Check out Cancellara's descent here, for example.

sky ride Local -- Everyone's invited

Fancy joining in one of over 1000 free, fun group bike rides for families and friends this summer?

Sky Ride Local – the popular programme of friendly community led-rides, is back for 2012, local to Aylesbury and bigger than ever.

Sustainable Development -- not so in Aylesbury

Isn't it interesting that evey new development from government and industry has to be 'sustainable' to pass muster these days. I agree. The trouble is what exactly counts as sustainable seems to be pretty much anything.

For example there is a 'sustainable' planning application for Hampden Fields residential development which I think misses crucial elements of local sustainability.
